Portfolio

Here are some recent project selected to illustrate the variety and quality of work that I perform.  Each project will include what the client wanted to achieve, any noteworthy comments, and a collection of photos showing the construction details and the final installation.

Garden Bench

The client wanted a uniquely designed and constructed garden bench made from live-edge redwood slabs as birthday present for their spouse.
The redwood slabs were shaped and smoothed with a power planer, preserving the live-edge and giving the rest of the slab and organic sort of driftwood look and feel.  The supporting structure is uniquely designed and constructed, then smoothed and rounded to have the same sort of look and feel as the slabs, but to also be very strong and long lasting.  The post were submerged 2 feet into concrete.

Shelter

The client wanted a shelter and screen where they could safely stack their firewood away from their home.  The design needed to harmonize with their redwood home and the client wanted to try to recycle redwood split stakes they had previously recovered.
The site need to be prepared and the the redwood split stakes were sorted by size and nails were removed.  A frame was constructed with posts set in concrete to withstand strong winds and the structure for the roof was cross-braced.

Hogwire Fence

Client is completely redoing the front and landscape of a charming Sonoma bungalow.  First phase is to remove lawn and redo landscape with more natural plants requiring less water. Client wanted a redwood and hogwire fence evocative of the wine country and also the upscale fit and finish that is in keeping with the wine country.
This fence utilizes powder-coasted heavy gauge hogwire set in a channelled subframe for a more Arts and Crafts look including the posts being caped.

Tank Screen

Client wanted to improve the look of their front drive by somehow cleaning up and screening their fuel-oil tank while still enabling access for periodic refilling.
The foliage was removed and the tanks was scraped and painted.  The surrounding ground was prepared.  Redwood lathe screens were assembled offsite and installed.  Flowering vines were planted at the base of the screens so they will fill in with foliage and sweet smelling flowers.

Restoration

Client had front porch pillars and fence that had severely rotted.  They asked to have all of this restored and repainted.
All of the fence was removed and some portion of the trim on the pillars was also removed.  Wood was restored, trim replaced, fences rebuilt and then all of it was repainted.
