Introduction

Welcome.
As a  longtime woodworker (furniture) and black and white fine art photographer, it is no wonder that I have such a leaning towards the arts and crafts.  I spent my youth, highly influenced by my mother, an artist, and all the wonderful classes I took at the Mendocino Art Center. Additionally, working in the family lumber business gave me a deep appreciation for wood.  In fact, I love wood: its smell, texture, natural beauty, warm touch and exquisite grain structure, and I am particularly appreciative of the designs and styles from the Arts and Crafts Movement.  Lastly, I also build custom vintage Fender Stratocaster guitars, write about eating better, and perform digital marketing for small businesses.

All of these aspects of my life lead into my value proposition:  I undertake projects where it gives me pleasure to satisfy my clients with well-constructed, beautiful and uniquely designed hardscape fixtures such as arbors, pergolas, screens, trellises and benches.  My projects are cost less than a landscape company would charge and more than your typical handyman. I offer beautiful fixtures that are collaboratively designed to meet or exceed your functional and aesthetic desires.

Methods and Tools

Joinery
The joinery i use it more akin to furniture making than what is typically used for hardscape fixtures.  I do this because it makes for a more elegant and unique design that is also built to last.
Tools
Most of the work is done offsite, so that I can use higher quality tools, such a cabinet making table saws, bandsaws and so on.  These heavy duty and precision tools are impractical to transport to the job site.
Assembly
The majority of the assembly is also performed offsite.  This enables fine tuning of each piece as it is being assembled. It also shelters the client from the noise and debris of this phase.  Assembled units are delivered and installed as the final step, which can then occur quickly.
